In this course, we will explore the Japanese nerikomi technique, where clays of different colors are layered and combined to create patterned surfaces. The result can be stripes, a vibrant marble effect, or dotted patterns. You can either plan your design carefully or discover something new and unexpected through the process itself.
Using rolled and patterned clay slabs, you can create items such as a bowl, a plate, or another decorative object with the help of molds.
No prior experience in ceramics is required, as we will go through the basics of the technique during the course.
The items made during the workshop will be dried and fired, and the studio will take care of the final glazing. You will receive a functional ceramic piece to take home!
Materials, glazing (done by the staff), and firings are included in the course, as well as coffee and cookies. The price includes 25.5% VAT.
The course is held in Finnish, but guidance is also available in English - so don’t hesitate to join!
